Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 large potatoes, peeled and grated
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1/4 cup flour (or gluten-free flour for a gluten-free option)
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for frying)
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Potatoes: Grate the potatoes and squeeze out excess moisture using a clean kitchen towel or cheesecloth.
  2. Mix the Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine grated potatoes, shredded cheese, flour, egg, salt, pepper, and optional garlic/onion powders. Mix until well combined.
  3. Heat the Oil: Heat olive oil in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat.
  4. Form Pancakes: Scoop a tablespoon of the potato mixture into the pan, pressing gently to form small pancakes.
  5. Cook: Cook each pancake for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Serve: Remove from the pan, place on a paper towel to drain excess oil, and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce or as a side dish.
